Six Years as an OT: The Lessons That Shape My Work
Good occupational therapy is not about ticking boxes. It is about understanding the person's whole world and building recommendations that fit.
Key points
- Good occupational therapy is not about ticking boxes.
- It is about understanding the person's whole world and building recommendations that fit.
Six years of practice have reinforced one lesson: good occupational therapy starts with the whole picture.
My approach is to understand the person's routines, environment, goals and the people in their corner, then include those factors in decision-making. A technically correct recommendation is only useful when it can work in real life.
