Who can make a referral?

Anyone can. Participants and family members refer themselves, and we also take referrals from support coordinators, plan managers, GPs, specialists, allied health colleagues and aged care providers. You do not need a doctor's referral for occupational therapy.

What happens after I send the referral form?

The referral comes straight to our admin inbox and Tenae reviews it. We come back to you to confirm we can take the referral, outline the hours and cost involved, and offer appointment times. If we are not the right fit, we say so early and suggest where else to look.

Is there a waiting list?

Availability changes through the year and depends on where you are and whether the appointment is in person or by Telehealth. Telehealth appointments are usually the quickest to arrange. Ring 0431 124 842 or send the referral form and we will tell you honestly what the current wait looks like.

What information should I include with a referral?

The participant's name and contact details, plan dates and funding type, the reason for referral, any goals already written into the plan, and copies of recent reports if you have them. Missing details are fine — we will ask for what we need.

What funding do you accept?

Accepted Answer

Self-managed and plan-managed NDIS, private paying clients, and My Aged Care. We are not currently able to take NDIA-managed plans.

How much does an assessment cost?

Our occupational therapy rate is $193.99 per hour. All-inclusive packages are 15 hours for an FCA, 25 hours for SIL or Support Care Needs, and 30 hours for SDA. These are total package hours including assessment and report work, not just appointment time. Every package, including assistive technology and home modifications, is listed on the pricing page.

Could the cost go over the quote?

Packages are capped at the hours quoted. If the work looks likely to go past that cap, we stop, explain why and agree a revised quote in writing before continuing. No extra hours are ever claimed without your agreement.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is charged in line with NDIS pricing rules where it applies, and we tell you the expected travel component before the first appointment. For rural and remote areas we plan trips so travel is shared across several clients in the same region where possible.

How long does an FCA report take?

Reports are delivered within 10 business days of the final appointment and any outstanding information being received. If something is holding the report up, we tell you rather than letting the date pass quietly.

How do I prepare for an FCA?

Have your current plan, recent reports, a list of the equipment you already use and a sense of which daily tasks are hardest. It helps to think about a typical day from waking up to going to bed. There is a full preparation section on the Functional Capacity Assessment page.

Can an FCA be done by Telehealth?

Yes, and it is often the fastest option for regional and remote participants. Video appointments work well for interview-based assessment and observing tasks in the home. Where hands-on measurement is needed, such as complex seating or structural home modifications, we arrange an in-person visit.

When should an FCA be updated?

Usually before a plan reassessment, after a significant change in function, or when new funding for equipment, supports or modifications needs current evidence. If your existing report still reflects daily life accurately, an update may not be needed.

Which areas do you cover in person?

Regular in-person appointments across the Gold Coast, Logan, Brisbane, Scenic Rim and Northern Rivers, with planned travel to Adelaide, the Riverland and Mackay, and rural outreach across QLD, NSW, VIC and SA. Telehealth is available Australia-wide.

What happens at the first appointment?

We talk through what is working and what is not, watch the daily tasks that matter most, take measurements if equipment or modifications are involved, and agree on the goals to work towards. Family members and support workers are welcome to be there.

Where do appointments take place?

Accepted Answer

Wherever the task happens — usually the home, but also school, workplaces, day programs and the community. Home visits give the most useful picture for equipment, safety and modification work.

Question 16

What do I need for a Telehealth appointment?

Accepted Answer

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera, and a reasonable internet connection. We send a link beforehand with nothing to download. Having someone at home to hold the camera helps when we need to see how a room is set up.

Do you offer supervision to other occupational therapists?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Clinical supervision, professional supervision and OT mentoring are available to new graduates and experienced clinicians, individually or in small groups, and by video anywhere in Australia.

Question 18

Will you work alongside the rest of the team?

Accepted Answer

Always. We coordinate with physiotherapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, support coordinators, builders and equipment suppliers so recommendations fit what everyone else is doing rather than sitting on their own.
