NDIS Therapy Billing Changes: Why Your OT Invoice May Look Different in 2026–27
Not all occupational therapy work happens while you are in the room with your therapist. Clearer billing aims to make each part of the service easier to understand.
Key points
- Not all occupational therapy work happens while you are in the room with your therapist.
- Clearer billing aims to make each part of the service easier to understand.
Why can therapy invoices be difficult to read?
Assessments need to be scored, notes completed, reports written and information reviewed. Your occupational therapist may also need to communicate with your support coordinator or other treating professionals. Current claiming data does not always make direct therapy, non-face-to-face work and travel easy to distinguish.
What changed from 1 July 2026?
The 2026–27 NDIS Pricing Schedule commenced on 1 July 2026. The Annual Pricing Review also pointed towards clearer separation of therapy activities and provider travel in future claiming arrangements.
As requirements develop, invoices may identify direct assessment or intervention, non-face-to-face clinical work, report preparation and provider travel more clearly. That does not necessarily mean new charges; it can make work that was already part of the service more visible.
Why is transparency important?
Your NDIS plan belongs to you. You should be able to understand where funding is going and what you receive in return. Detailed invoices can help participants, nominees, support coordinators and plan managers monitor expenditure and identify unexpected spending.
Our approach
We welcome greater transparency and aim to show a clear connection between the service provided, clinical work completed and amount invoiced. If anything on an invoice is unclear, we want you to ask.
Your NDIS funding should not be a mystery.
