A 90-day claiming deadline is scheduled to begin in December 2026, helping participants see a more current picture of their plan spending.
Key points
- A 90-day claiming deadline is scheduled to begin in December 2026, helping participants see a more current picture of their plan spending.
What is changing?
From December 2026, claims will generally need to be submitted within 90 days of the support being delivered, subject to the final rules and any applicable exceptions.
Why introduce a deadline?
Timely claiming gives participants a more accurate picture of the funding left in their plan. Without it, months of outstanding provider invoices can make an apparent balance very different from the amount actually available.
What does this mean for participants?
The effect may be minimal when providers already invoice promptly. More broadly, the change should encourage timely administration and reduce unexpected historical invoices.
Our approach
Our processes focus on timely invoicing and accurate service records. We are reviewing them ahead of commencement so claims continue to be submitted within the required timeframe.
Better records. More timely invoices. Fewer surprises.
