    NDIS assessment guide

Which assessment do you need, what does it cost, and can your plan pay for it? Start with the question you need answered—not just the name of a report.

Choose the question your assessment needs to answer

These are all-inclusive packages. The hours cover assessment and report work—not just the time spent in appointments. We confirm the right package, scope and fee in writing before work begins.

    Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)

A broad picture of how your disability affects everyday activities and the support you need. It can provide evidence for an NDIS plan reassessment or support request.

    $2,909.85

    15 total package hours · $193.99/hour

The report: Your everyday abilities, areas where you need assistance and practical recommendations.

    Assessment details

SIL / Support Care Needs Assessment

A closer look at assistance you need at home, including daily routines, overnight support and risks. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is support with daily life, not the home itself.

    $4,849.75

    25 total package hours · $193.99/hour

The report: An analysis of support needs, recommended assistance and a roster of care where appropriate.

    Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Assessment

Evidence about disability-related housing needs when specialist accommodation may be appropriate. SDA refers to the accommodation, rather than the day-to-day support provided in it.

    $5,819.70

    30 total package hours · $193.99/hour

The report: Assessment evidence and housing recommendations to support consideration of SDA needs.

    Assessment details

FCA reports are returned within 10 business days of the final appointment and receipt of the required information. Other report timeframes and any regional travel arrangements are confirmed for your assessment.

An assessment provides evidence; it does not guarantee NDIS funding, eligibility or approval of a recommendation.

Need equipment or changes to your home?

An FCA is not a substitute for every specialist assessment. Assistive technology assessments focus on equipment needs and trials; home modification assessments focus on access and safety in your home. See pricing and other packages or ask us which scope fits your needs.

    How NDIS funding works

Having an NDIS plan does not automatically mean every assessment is covered. Before booking, check that the assessment is an allowable use of your funding, that the relevant budget can cover it, and how that part of your plan is managed.

    Self-managed NDIS
We accept self-managed funding. You manage the payment and claim process for the assessment. We confirm the quote and payment arrangements before starting.
    Plan-managed NDIS
We accept plan-managed funding. Your plan manager handles invoices for eligible supports. Include their name and invoice email in your referral and check the available budget with them.
    NDIA-managed funding
Our listed NDIS funding pathways are self-managed and plan-managed. If the relevant budget is NDIA-managed, contact us before booking rather than assuming we can claim from it.
    Other funding
Private payment, My Aged Care and insurance enquiries are welcome. We confirm whether the assessment fits your funding arrangement and any authorisation needed before work begins.

Your support coordinator or plan manager can help clarify your plan. For the NDIS's own information, visit NDIS participant guidance.

    What to have ready

    • The question you need answered: daily support, home and living, equipment or home access.
    • Participant contact details, date of birth, address and consent to the referral.
    • Your funding type and, if plan-managed, the plan manager's name and invoice email.
    • Relevant goals and details of existing reports. We arrange how to share plans and supporting documents after your referral.

Not sure which assessment to choose? Ask first. We respond to enquiries and referrals within two business days, then confirm suitability, fees, funding and the expected appointment window.
